Group Jicama Week 3

Plants' progress:
This week the amount of watering is also 250 ml per session, with two session in a day(morning and afternoon). However, we have changed the watering routine starting on last Monday as below.
Pot 1: Water everyday.
Pot 2: Water alternate days. (Monday, Wed, Fri, Sun)
Pot 3: Water twice per week. (Mon and Fri)
Pot 4:Water twice per week. (Mon and Fri)
Pot 5: Water once per week. (Monday)

Pot 1: (Date: 13/5/2017, Saturday)

Amount of watering: 250 ml
Germination rate: 8/12 X 100=66.67%
Average plant's height: =(2+14+9+18+24+12.5+17+19)cm /8
=14.4 cm

Pot 2: (Date: 13/5/2017, Saturday)

Amount of watering: 250 ml
Germination rate: 4/12 X 100=33.33%
Average plant's height: =(4+4+15+16)cm /4
=9.75 cm

Pot 3: (Date: 13/5/2017, Saturday)

Amount of watering: 250 ml
Germination rate: 3/12 X 100=25%
Average plant's height: =(4+4+2)cm /3
=3.3 cm

Pot 4: (Date: 13/5/2017, Saturday)

Amount of watering: 250 ml
Germination rate: 12/12 X 100=100%
Average plant's height:(2+3+23+17+17+18+20+25+13+12+20+19)cm /12
=15.8 cm

Pot 5: (Date: 13/5/2017, Saturday

Amount of watering: 250 ml
Germination rate: 7/12 X 100=58.33%
Average plant's height:(1+3+6+7+15+11+7)cm /7
=7.1 cm

  1. When you do your overall report later, don't forget to address the research questions.
Discuss and conclude your data observation results.

For this group as your focus revolve on soil moisture effect of the plant growth.
I would like to see how the group summarize the changes of watering frequency for each pot effect the plant. root and shoot growth.
Hint: It might also effect the absorption of nutrients.
Data interlink of this observation on which jicama grow well is the soil moisture content, soil texture, soil sieve analysis test. plant weight and length, ect.

For sub-topic of soil moisture I propose assigned this task to Kan Choong Wei and Lim Rui Qi.

  2. Food for thought:

Why is the germination rate and plant growth is different between pot when you have the same soil texture, same amount of watering at the early stage, soil pH, ect?
